owners of Kubota MX 5000 tractors should be aware that the lower radiator hose is easily knocked off by twigs/stubble; causing instant catastrophic engine failure. Kubota WILL NOT WARRANTY ENGINE! radiator hose clamps have screws that stick out 3/4 inch and the plastic hose connections on the radiator are smooth.

Plan on installing a skid plate.

Sorry to here of your problems. I would be adding the grille gaurd to your tractor at the minimum. You might want to alter your exhaust pipe which is below the radiator hose you are refering to as that might have helped to direct what ever you are mowing up into the radiator hose area. I've seen this happen on 100plus horsepower tractors and I don't know of any manufacturer that warrentee's that type of failure. There are some add-on insureance policy's that do cover failures of that type. Were you mowing brush? ....

I own a 2002, I am very new to all of this. Who would install a skid plate for me? I have 20 acres, my tractor has 37 hours on it.

Could you also recommend a finishing mower for this type of tractor?

Thanks! ....

Believe me I don't think everyone will be needing the skid plate. You could use up to a 90" finish mower. ....

The five foot unit I wouldn't recommend as if it would cover the width of the tractor it would be just barely. You would need at least a 72" for that unit. ....
